Yuppa is made by Aurelion Labs, the one-person studio of Mehmet Sancaktutan. There are no accounts. Your preferences, your scan history and your favourites stay on your phone. A photo leaves the phone only when you ask for an appraisal, and this page says exactly where it goes.
What leaves your phone
| Data | Where it goes, and why |
|---|---|
| The product photo you take or pick | Sent to Yuppa's own service, hosted on Vercel, and forwarded to Anthropic — the AI provider — to identify the product and read its label. It is processed and answered. Yuppa does not keep the image on its servers. |
| The product name, brand, the ingredient text read from the photo, and the app's language | Sent to Anthropic for the appraisal, with at most one web search per appraisal. For food, the name and brand also go to Open Food Facts for nutrition values; on Android the app asks Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts directly from the phone, so those services see your device's IP address. |
| An anonymous purchase identifier and your subscription status | Held by RevenueCat and by Google Play or the App Store, so the app knows whether your subscription is active. Because there is no account, it is not tied to a name or an email address. Payment details are handled by the store and never reach us. |
| Network metadata — IP address, request timing, error class | Processed by the hosting provider to run and protect the service. The operation record written for each scan carries no photo, no product name and no user identifier. |
Location is never collected. There is no account, no advertising SDK and no analytics profile. Your allergens, diet, health goals and skin type are never sent to any server — the comparison between a product and your preferences runs on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Your optional display name; your allergens, diet, health goals and skin type; your scan history with the photos you took; your favourites; your language and reminder settings. Reminders are scheduled on the device — there is no push service. Uninstalling the app removes all of it, subject to whatever backup behaviour your phone applies.
Who else sees it
- Anthropic — receives the photo and the product text to recognise and appraise the product. It never receives your profile, your name or an identifier for you.
- Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts — receive a product name and brand. Nothing about you is sent. Their data is used under the Open Database License (ODbL).
- RevenueCat, Google Play and the App Store — run the subscription and hold the anonymous purchase identifier.
- Vercel — hosts the service the app talks to.
Nothing is sold. Nothing goes to advertisers. There is no advertising SDK in either app and no profile is built about you.
How long it is kept
On your phone: until you delete it or uninstall the app. On the server: the photo is not retained once the reply is sent, and appraisal results are cached without any identifier for up to 30 days so that the next person scanning the same product does not pay for the same analysis twice. The photo is not part of that cache. Anthropic handles what it receives under its own API data-retention policy, and the hosting provider keeps operational logs under its own retention policy.
Your rights
You can see everything the app holds inside the app, change it in Preferences, and delete it — see Delete your data. If you are in Türkiye (KVKK) or the EEA (GDPR) these rights are yours by law; we apply them to everyone wherever they live. Write to desteksancaktutan@gmail.com, including the Support ID shown in the app if your request concerns a purchase.
Children
Yuppa is for adults. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Not a medical service
Yuppa is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition. Its scores, risk bands and warnings are general information, not medical advice. Never rely on it alone for an allergy decision: ingredient lists change, so check the packaging and ask a qualified professional.
Changes
If this policy changes materially the date at the top changes with it, and the app points here again.
